Freo, or Fremantle, is just a 20min. bus ride down South St. It is full of shops, restaurants, clubs, pubs, breweries and more. (This picture on the right was of these creepy mannequins in a shop called Hipnosis. Look at their clown faces!) Freo is a small city, but there's definitely a lot to do. We walked around by the beach and ate at a Fish N Chips. The restaurant was right on the water and it was different than any other place I've been to. You ordered your food as you would at a fastfood restaurant and they gave you a buzzer. Then you went to pick up your food, but they gave it to
you in wrapped paper with no plate or silverware or anything. We sat outside and it was a little chilly, but it was right on the water. I remember seeing a boat named M.I.S. Perception. Cute name I thought. That boat was teal colored and actually was reflecting its color onto the water so it looked tropical and clear. The food was good!
of neat looking cars and really expensive cars, but also too many of those car/truck combinations. So ugly! They have them in the States but who would buy them anyway? It's like a car in the front and a truck in the back..that whole mullet idea just doesn't work out.
We stopped in this shop that had lots of Aboriginal paraphernalia. I bought two postcards with some beautiful artwork of Aboriginal life. It was a neat store, but sort of seemed like it was set up just for tourists. We also stopped in a Target and found that it was crazy expensive and more like a department store here than in the States. My shampoo cost $9! Everything is so expensive in general here, but I also keep forgetting the conversion rate.
*Random fact: AC/DC was from Perth!*
Overall Freo seems like a great little city with lots to do and lots of fun to be had! I still need to check out the seafood, fruit and vegetable markets next time I'm there!
