Everyday Life :)

Not much has been going on, but I thought I'd post to keep this updated.

One day when I was walking back to my room from class I saw this dog and pet him and kept on walking. Then I looked back and he was following me! It was so adorable. So I stopped and played fetch with him and pet him for a while. One of the directors of the Student Village owns him and introduced us all to him at the beginning of the semester and he just wanders around the Village, making friends. :)

A few friends and I went up to the RISE Environmental Center on campus one day to plant seedlings and help out up there. It's a really cool place- the building is made entirely of recycled and sustainable materials. There's no heat or air conditioning, but the way they built it keeps the air circulating and not too warm. Up there we saw this crazy animal. We were told it was a duck, but I think it's a mutant rooster-swan-monster duck. It was making the strangest sounds too.

On my way back from the grocery store the sunset was so beautiful, I had to stop and take a picture. This is the sunset and I'm standing right in front of the Student Village where I live.

This is Cottesloe Beach. It's really nice and it only takes like 40mins to get to. The weather here is finally nice enough so that we can go to the beach on a day when we don't have class, or the weekend or whatever. A few days after we went though, a Great White Shark was spotted out a couple kilometers eating a dead whale, so now they have all these warnings and increased life-guarding patrol on the beach. I wasn't going in the water after that though!

Australia has such beautiful nature. That sounds stupid, but seriously, Australians appreciate nature and the environment way more than Americans do. On a walkway back from class I see these butterflies everywhere! They look like mini-monarchs, but they make me so happy when I see them. :)
