Wine tour, woot! This all began at about 10:30a.m. So much for no drinks before 5:00p.m.
I realized that I hate red wine. Hate. But I love really sweet white wine and sweet champagne! We spent the day going to several different wineries and a few breweries, and we even made it to a chocolate shop! The pictures above show our first stop- Sandalford Winery. I tried port- it was so nasty! Talk about strong, who could sip that?
The vineyards didn't look that gorgeous because it is winter and all the vines were cut. There were olive trees blooming though.
The next winery we went to was Lancaster Winery. That's where my favorite wine of the day was. It was called Late Picked Cherin and it was really fruity and sweet white wine- it tasted more like juice. I would've bought a bottle, but it was like $30 for a bottle that's half the size of a regular wine bottle. It started pouring while we were at Lancaster so we were all huddled under these umbrella things, getting soaked and drinking wine, waiting for the rain to stop.
Then we went across the street to the Margaret River Chocolate Company! We got free samples of the different types of chocolate and we saw a guy who was making the chocolates- pouring it into the little molds. Not too exciting, but definitely delicious!
Next we went to a few breweries, sampled different beers. They were all pretty heavy, but quality. The photo above is from Mash Brewery. Then afterwards outside we were all climbing this really cool tree!
The next brewery we went to was definitely the worst one :-/ It turned out that you had to pay to sample the beers there. And we had a not so pleasant run in with some Australian racist hicks with rat tails who said a few disturbing comments to people in our group. We were glad to leave, and then we had a dance party on the bus on the way home! Some slept, some danced.
Overall it was a really great day and a great experience to be able to sample so much quality wine and beer that had been grown/brewed right here in WA!
